SEACT Description

The Southeast Asian Collective at Tufts (SEACT) is an effort to create a self-sustaining academic space for discussion of Southeast Asia affairs, as well as to increase awareness of the region and champion Southeast Asian issues and initiatives at Tufts University. This is done with an aim to alleviate the dearth of knowledge regarding the regional dynamics and history of Southeast Asia, and their role in current security, business, and diplomatic landscapes. To that end, SEACT seeks to position itself as a sustained “think tank” student organization of individuals interested in political, economic, and cultural issues of Southeast Asia. This would also serve to complement existing International Relations and Economics groups at Tufts, providing support through avenues for discourse, platforms for written publication of think-pieces, and consultation/assistance for topically related conferences and events.
