Heather has been with the Institute since 1988, when she was a student in the EPIIC Class on “Secrecy and Democracy”. She has been part of the Institute’s growth from just the EPIIC program to the more than 30 initiatives it has developed over the years, including Inquiry, which she still runs. She is the author of “Educating for Global Leadership: The Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC) Program” in Innovations in International Education and co-author of “Educating Global Leaders” (New Designs for Youth Development) and was the content consultant for Secrecy and Democracy for Educators for Social Responsibility. At Tufts, she participates on the Bridging Differences committee.

She was the Principal Investigator for the U.S. Department of Education Fund for Innovation in Post Secondary Education grant “Creating a Blueprint for Leadership and Citizenship Development: The EPIIC Educational Process.” She has spoken on a range of panels focusing on youth development. She is on the Malden Youth Soccer Board and on the steering committee of Malden Reads. She was a Board Member and Advisory Committee Member for the Alray Scholars Program, which gives promising Boston students a second chance at college through scholarships and mentoring.
