Elizabeth Hammond, EPIIC '07, with Svetlana Broz, granddaughter of former Yugoslav leader Josip Tito. Liz was hosted and advised by Dr. Broz, a noted cardiologist, who volunteered her services as a physician in war-torn Bosnia when she traveled to Bosnia for her research on "The Long -Term Effects of Trauma in Bosnia- Herzegovina: Rebuilding the Mental Health Care Infrastructure," a case study chapter in her senior honors thesis in psychology on "The Effects of Emotion on Recognition."

There is a special thesis track within the EPIIC colloquium that enables students researching a potential thesis or capstone project, and seniors and Fletcher students writing their theses to take advantage of the Institute's extensive global network and "rolodex" of mentors and advisors. Many are former EPIIC and other Institute symposia advisers and panelists.
