GlobalPost – in partnership with the Open Hands Initiative – brought together 17 top, young journalists to cover “Egypt’s Unfinished Revolution.”

Nine Egyptians.  Eight Americans.  One team coming together to tell the stories of Egypt’s dramatic, ongoing journey.
The panel discussion will feature five of the Fellows, including Tufts alumna Elizabeth Herman’10,
GlobalPost Executive Editor Charles Sennott, Open Hands Initiative Director Jay Snyder, and  Photojournalist Gary Knight.

Women In Defense award to Sarah Charlton

The National Defense Industrial Association’s Women In Defense affiliate awarded HORIZONS scholarships this fall to six students.

“Seeing so many candidates pursue STEM-related fields — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — was gratifying,” said Brenda McKinney, Women In Defense HORIZONS scholarship director.

 On Monday October 24th, The Poverty and Power Research Initiative (PPRI) held its first speaker event of the PPRI Speaker Series for 2011 revolving around the theme of "Media and its Relations with Power Structures". PPRI presented Mr.Fernando Berguido, a current Nieman Fellow at the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University, and publisher of the newspaper La Prensa in Panama. Mr. Berguido lead a discussion on Media in Latin America: Transparency, Special Interests and Accessibility.

Acting Together – Join the Conversation

On October 23rd, Acting Together held the event "Join the Conversation" in the Granoff Music Building. "Join the Conversation" featured performances by groups Libana and Medicine Wheel, featuring Tufts Drama Professor Barbara Wallace Grossman as MC. The goal of the film screen, discussion and performances was to explore how performance arts can help community peace building efforts.
