South Asian Regional Committee

The South Asian Regional Committee is an academic discourse and research group under the Institute for Global Leadership at Tufts University. Their work revolves around the 9 countries that fall under the region which include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Pakistan. This group will have a focus on social, political, historical and economic affairs, with the conscious intent to be in touch with current issues facing the South Asian subcontinent. Through bi-weekly discussion meetings and a number of panel discussions, we hope to create a place for students of all backgrounds, ideologies, identities and ages to come together and develop a nuanced understanding of the region. This group is run under the umbrella group called the Tufts Asian Affairs Group under the Institute for Global Leadership (IGL). SARC is open to all members of the Tufts community, and does not require any expertise in the region. All we require is an interest in the South Asian subcontinent!
