South Asian Climate Conference

Date & Time February 19-20, 2021 10:00am - 2:00pm
South Asian Regional Committee

The 2021 Climate Change Conference on February 19th and 20th, hosted by the Tufts South Asian Regional Committee (SARC), will feature four panels that each address the various challenges that climate change poses to the subcontinent. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are amongst the countries worst affected by the climate crisis. Rising sea levels have displaced thousands of people in West Bengal and Bangladesh, while a shortage of freshwater has led to a diplomatic crisis between India and Pakistan. The colloquium aims to address the social, political and economic consequences of climate change, both at local and international levels. The various responses to this existential crisis, including policy change, technological innovation and international law, will be explored as well.

The panels are as follows:

February 19

10:00am -- Panel 1: Climate Change and Mass Migration in India and Bangladesh

12:00pm -- Panel 2: Water Policy in South Asia

February 20

10:00am -- Panel 3: Climate Change and Colonialism

12:00pm -- Panel 4: Technological Solutions to Climate Change

We are excited to introduce some of our confirmed speakers. We will be joined by Dr. Iftekhar Iqbal, Tasneem Siddiqui, and Kshitij Khandelwal, the founder and CTO of Pixxel Space
