Jean-Michel Molenaar is a Professor of Practice at the School of Engineering at Tufts. He has been part of the international fab lab network since its early years, after earning an M.A. in Arts and Technology in the Netherlands. In addition to being a professor of the practice in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, he manages Fab Connections, a company which runs projects and services for a global network of digital fabrication spaces. He is also managing Bio Academy, a synthetic biology program.

He will be speaking as part of the Migration Series on behalf of the Engineers Without Borders student group. Jean-michel will talk about the impact of digitally controlled tools on fabrication and how it heralds the possibility of personalized manufacturing for people all across the globe.

He will first present some of his work in this field, after which he’ll engage in an open discussion about how to improve these efforts to make sure we create an inclusive, and not exclusive, future of fabrication.
