As part of this year' SURGE China-U.S. Symposium on "Confrontation and Cooperation", William Overholt will deliver the 2018 David Rawson Memorial Lecture on "China's Crisis of Success", based on his just released book.

William H. Overholt is Senior Reseach Fellow at Harvard’s Kennedy School and Principal of AsiaStat LLC.  Previously, he held the Asia Policy Distinguished Research Chair at RAND’s California headquarters and was Director of the Center for Asia Pacific Policy. Concurrently, he was Visiting Professor at Shanghai Jiaodong University.

During 21 years in investment banking, he was Head of Strategy and Economics at Nomura’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong from 1998 to 2001 and Managing Director and Head of Research at Bank Boston’s regional headquarters in Singapore.  During 18 years at Bankers Trust, he was a regional strategist and Asia research head based in Hong Kong from 1985 to 1998.  At the Hudson Institute, Dr. Overholt directed planning studies for the U.S. Department of Defense, Department of State, National Security Council, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and Council on International Economic Policy.  Dr. Overholt has authored seven books, his most recent, China's Crisis of Success, was just released in 2018.

There will be a book-signing following the David Rawson Memorial Lecture.
 

David Rawson was a student in EPIIC 2006-07 and had just graduated from Tufts when he passed away suddenly.
